Hello Thursday, Ben and I have begun a new discussion group on Yahoo! Called "The People of the Island Dream", it aims to create a community of dedicated Utopians and stuff. If you haven't seen it, it's all about Port Watson. So join, ok?

Today brings us a fine, short column by Neil Cavuto on the California governors race. It's a welcome attitude, one that my readers will recognize...

Another part of a column comes from yesterday's Best of The Web (that's August 12th), which details the opposition to the California recall from each and every one of the Nine Dwarves. Take a peak at what they're saying and realize that none have much in common with the people of California...

Happy Monday! Doesn't that sound disgustingly perky? I sure hope so.

Welcome to the blog, if you haven't been here before. It's not a daily affair, mostly just the Only When I Feel Like It Blog Company. Just finished a new project that's been taking up a lot of potential blogging time, take a look and tell me what you think:

The Port Watson Project

I'm pretty happy with the site in general. About ten years ago we took a stab at creating a utopian community in the Out Islands in The Bahamas. Financing in foreign lands tends to be a deal killer, especially if they want half down and the rest now. We came pretty close, and got to visit and stay on a couple of islands. We picked up a lot of experience in boring subjects like power generation, desalination of seawater, hydroponics (ok, not boring to ME!) and real estate development, plus satellite phone and tv and the economics of marinas. It will come in handy, I suspect....do drop in! The name of the project comes from the short story, Visit Port Watson! which you can read HERE or back there. It really inspired us, to say the least, becoming an obsession that's spanned an entire decade so far and shows no sign of letting up. More on this as it happens...
