Whoops! It seems a couple of days elapsed when I wasn't looking. Sometimes it seems that there's nothing interesting in the news. Not that it isn't important when tornados rip up your town, but not the type of thing that encourages commentary---unless you have command of the alien weather control technology that is, in which case you should write me immediately. Just when I was ready to panic, I found THIS!
Anything into Oil
Technological savvy could turn 600 million tons of turkey guts and other waste into 4 billion barrels of light Texas crude each year
By Brad Lemley
I'm a big fan of technology, and this is a BIG THING. Of course, there are other technologies that I thought would have more impact than they have yet, in particular a process called capacitative de-ionization that was developed at Lawrence Livermore Labs in California. The process created absolutely clean water at a price far, far below market, and I figured that would make a big difference to every country with a coastline. Not yet though, perhaps some other year. I found this story by reading LGF, and you should go there right now.
